Increasing market
demand, demanding the harum manis mango farmers of Buleleng Bali to go the
extra mile in maintenance to maintain the quality and increase the amount of
production of sweet fragrant mango harvest. This will result in increased
operational costs as well as daily laborers' wages.
Based on this, one
efficient way to assist the work of farmers is to utilize appropriate
technology. One example of the use of appropriate technology in agriculture is
to implement an automated system. The automated system can work independently
so that it can improve the efficiency of farmers' working time.
Based on this, the
researcher designed an automatic watering system based on scheduling that can
be set according to the user's wishes. This system utilizes RTC (Real Time
Clock) as a time indicator and Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller as the main
control. Watering time setting is done by using a keypad that is composed of
several push buttons. There are 3 watering time sessions that can be used, each
session can be set according to the user's desires. LCD is used to display
information in the form of time, date, month and year.
In the test that
has been done, there are 3 watering sessions that are used namely morning
watering session conducted at 09:15. Daytime watering session conducted at
13:05. On afternoon watering session conducted at 16:10. The three watering
sessions are time settings conducted by using a keypad on the automatic
watering device. The watering process will be active, when the clock displayed
on the LCD is the same as the given time setting. The pump will be activated,
indicated by the indicator LED on the relay module not lit, and vice versa. The
watering process will stop when the clock displayed on the LCD is more than the
given time setting, so that the watering will automatically stop. Based on the
test results obtained, automatic flowing equipment using RTC (Real Time Clock)
can work well, so it is expected to simplify the work of the farmers.
